Here is the link to the ** you don't have permission to see this link **! I hope you see why it took us so long to complete. It's a wonderful kickstart to the quality that you can expect from NHG and Myth & Magic …

And, it's free …

I know, we're crazy.

I like what I'm seeing so far.  One question that quickly comes to mind glancing through the PDF: will this format hold for the final books so that the GM book will be part monster manual?  I'm hoping it will.

Another question I'm not sure has been asked or not, when preorders go active for the final book will those of us who preorder be able to get the final PDF free or at reduced cost?

Yes to both.

The full Game Master's Guide will be part monster manual and any member pre-orders for print products will come with a free PDF.

I have been quite busy lately as the editor-in-chief of Justen Brown's 600 page For Gold & Glory (even putting my own projects on hold again), so I don't have time to read the whole thing completely at this time.  I have, however, skimmed the new starter kit, and I love the overall look, and as usual I'm here with some hopefully helpful quick observations.

The cover is awesome, but really needs to be in color!  I really like the interior illustrations. The paragraph layout gets a little sloppy per "my standards", but "my standards" do tend to tack on quite a few extra pages but provides easier readability.  I think the size of the  interior illustrations could also be improved using some layout tricks, but again pages get added.  I may have mentioned this before, but be careful of trying to be all things to all people.  For instance, allowing "a dwarf to be the first ever dwarven wizard" will please several GMs and players, but you might want to mention that it causes the loss of the Dwarf's innate magic resistance (you can't have it both ways!).  If every new advantage does not carry a corresponding disadvantage, it will generally lead to "munchkinism".

Thanks for all your hard work.  Where FG&G is a straight-up, unapologetic 2e clone, Myth & Magic is not, it is something different.

Thanks for the insight Hawk and it's good to hear you're busy.

BTW: the covers for the starter guides are purposefully greyscale – it ends there though – full color for the real stuff ;)

Can you give us any insight on the monster section of FG&G.  Is it going to be straight 2e MM or the entire OGL collection that he has listed on the website?

@NHG- Another round of applause on your progress!

Wow, after a quick skim I have to say, WOW!  The cover is pretty incredible and interior work is snappy as well.  Safron really hit the nail on the head.  Love the Kobold.  As to the content, I will have to go through it later, it does look promising.

I would like to print some of these up, but IIRC you said there will inevitably be some minor errata after it is released.  Will the Players Starter Guide also be "updated" to reflect any changes before the next phase of your project?  Is it possible to "draw a line in the sand" at some point and say they are "final?"

Cheers Laugh

Sorry, if this link gets posted twice.  It didn't seem to go through the first time.  I went back to DF, and answered that question, more fully.

Very nicely done on the monster update. There was one line that I read that sums up the stat block perspective nicely:

The last decade of OGL gaming has branded our brains to see attribute mods as the basic building block of an entire monster.

That's part of the OGL I'd like to stomped into a bloody gory mess. Be that as it may, the extra info will help gamers from the OGL era to better grasp M&M.

My thoughts exactly.

You'll notice that our Str and Dex mods never changes CAM and AC, so we've effectively "stomped" it Laugh

I like it. I like it alot. I think I'll just keep CAM for saves myself, but the new attribute mods really help.
