Current Pledge Total – 15K and Counting!!!

April 20: We cracked 15K at 10:38 a.m. EST. This is a monumental success, considering we have two weeks left in the campaign. We’ll let the dust settle a bit and then we’ll reveal the mystery race or class that will be distributed to backers. And, as a reminder, we plan to release one race or class at each $1,250 mark between 15K and 20K. This simply means more Myth & Magic for our backers.

Myth & Magic + Dwimmermount = Awesomeness

Kickstarter backers of the Myth & Magic Player’s Guide and Dwimmermount will receive a dungeon crawl authored by Tom Ryan to be used as an introduction to both Myth & Magic and the dangers of Dwimmermount! All backers of the Player’s Guide now have access to the first level of Dwimmermount to whet their appetites for adventure.

North Texas RPG Convention Backs Kickstarter Big Time

The awesome folks responsible for the North Texas RPG Convention just snagged the remaining Deity level reward with a $500.00 pledge. We’re sending some Starter Kits to be given away at the convention and will be pimping the convention where we can.

The Kickstarter for the Myth & Magic Player’s Guide is live. In 42 hours, we surpassed our initial 5K goal! Our eyes are now set on the stretch goals which can make the Myth & Magic Player’s Guide a true work of art.

Although we hit our first goal, your support is still needed. If you were on the fence, now is the time to pledge. There are some great rewards for  Kickstarter backers, so don’t wait any longer!

Myth & Magic at GenCon 2012!

Well, it's confirmed. NHG will be at GenCon this year and I can't be more excited!

You will find us at the OSR booth with other great OSR companies, such as Expeditious Retreat Press, Black Blade, Faster Monkey, Frog God Games, Pacesetter G&S, Lamentations of the Flame Princess, Henchmen Abuse, Center State Miniatures and Weird Adventures. I'm sure this list will grow to include your favorites.

I'm hammering out what products and special promos we'll bring along. At a minimum, you'll get the opportunity to purchase a first run Player's Handbook. I'd like to run a special dungeon crawl from my home campaign, with a prize to the survivor (yes, singular is intended)!

All of the races, the four iconic classes, and the most-essential rules to take your hero from the upstart trenches of Level 1 to the renown of Level 10. (May 7, 2012 Update: The file has been updated to fix a few large pieces of errata. The NWP proficiency bonuses have been changed. It is clear now that the d10 is the default initiative die type. Full attack actions have been removed.)

2) The Game Master’s Starter Guide – GMs get a ton of monsters, magic items, traps, poisons, diseases and advice to challenge their entire gaming table! We brought it all back.. and we added some twists and turns that keep the salted veterans guessing! This very well may be the greatest GM primer to any RPG … ever! Myth & Magic is an update and expansion to the 2nd Edition of the World’s Most Popular Roleplaying Game. It perfectly maintains the original tone and atmosphere, yet cleans up and modernizes some of the rules with new and improved mechanics.  We here at NHG started our gaming careers in the 1989 rules. We have tremendous love for that edition and this love is evident in the quality of the Myth & Magic experience. For anyone who has played 2E and enjoyed the countless avenues a good story and some good friends can take in a campaign, you will love Myth & Magic. About Myth & Magic

Myth & Magic is a fantasy role playing game built from the core of the 2nd Edition rules set of the world’s most popular roleplaying game. It retains the essence of classic fantasy role playing, while advancing the mechanics and providing more options, classes, spells, monsters, and more. 

Gamers from all editions will find Myth & Magic great fun. It retains the 2nd Edition’s focus on story and adventure, but it also provides new opportunity for character customization that appeals to new age gamers.

A 128-page Starter Kit (the Classic Kit) was made available to members on July 15th and soon thereafter for the general gaming public. It allows players to create characters and adventure through 5th level. The Starter Kit provides everything the game master needs to run adventures, as well.

A Revised Starter Kit, which incorporates substantial changes from the playtest, will be available in December. The Revised Starter Kit will not be made available to non-members.
