Game Master’s Guide Kickstarter Launches Next Week!!!

With the success of the Player’s Guide Kickstarter, we were able to produce a really fantastic product. We kept the margins tight, though, and need to use Kickstarter again to produce a Game Master’s Guide worthy to stand next to its sibling. Here is the cover image:

At 12:00 Noon on Friday, September 28th, the Kickstarter for the Game Master’s Guide begins!! Not only will you have the opportunity to grab a hardcover GMG before the public, we’re also including a pledge level to pick up one of 200 Collector’s Complete tomes – over 500 bound pages of Myth & Magic.

Goal: We need $10,500. I know that seems a bit high compared to the very humble goal of 5K for the Player’s Guide, but we’re much more educated on real production costs now.

Stretch Goal: $20,000. This unlocks the Game Master’s Screen and also ensures that a printed copy of the first module, the Road to Adventure, ships with each Game Master’s Guide!

North Texas RPG Convention Backs Kickstarter Big Time

The awesome folks responsible for the North Texas RPG Convention just snagged the remaining Deity level reward with a $500.00 pledge. We’re sending some Starter Kits to be given away at the convention and will be pimping the convention where we can.

Myth & Magic at GenCon 2012!

Well, it's confirmed. NHG will be at GenCon this year and I can't be more excited!

You will find us at the OSR booth with other great OSR companies, such as Expeditious Retreat Press, Black Blade, Faster Monkey, Frog God Games, Pacesetter G&S, Lamentations of the Flame Princess, Henchmen Abuse, Center State Miniatures and Weird Adventures. I'm sure this list will grow to include your favorites.

I'm hammering out what products and special promos we'll bring along. At a minimum, you'll get the opportunity to purchase a first run Player's Handbook. I'd like to run a special dungeon crawl from my home campaign, with a prize to the survivor (yes, singular is intended)!

The countdown to the release of the PHB and the GMG at GenCon 2012 has now begun. In the meantime, download your FREE Starter Guides for an in-depth preview of the game. Help bring the 2nd Edition of the World’s Most Popular Roleplaying Game to a new gaming generation!

1) The Player’s Starter Guide – A huge introduction to Myth & Magic. All of the races, the four iconic classes, and the most-essential rules to take your hero from the upstart trenches of Level 1 to the renown of Level 10. (May 7, 2012 Update: The file has been updated to fix a few large pieces of errata. The NWP proficiency bonuses have been changed. It is clear now that the d10 is the default initiative die type. Full attack actions have been removed.)

2) The Game Master’s Starter Guide – GMs get a ton of monsters, magic items, traps, poisons, diseases and advice to challenge their entire gaming table! We brought it all back.. and we added some twists and turns that keep the salted veterans guessing! This very well may be the greatest GM primer to any RPG … ever! Also includes a free adventure, The Shattered Academy!

We have tremendous love for that edition and this love is evident in the quality of the Myth & Magic experience. Not only does each combatant fight for his soul, but each fights for an empty throne – the throne of the God of War. All of history’s greatest warriors have been collected in their afterlife and the bell has rung. Kartakas is alive with combat. The test has begun.

Arena Gods is a card and dice-based miniatures game in which players engage in immortal combat. Each win brings one closer to a final battle with the Grand Master, the favored for the throne.

Game Master’s Guide Kickstarter Launches Next Week!!!

About Myth & Magic

Myth & Magic is a fantasy role playing game built from the core of the 2nd Edition rules set of the world’s most popular roleplaying game. It retains the essence of classic fantasy role playing, while advancing the mechanics and providing more options, classes, spells, monsters, and more. 

Gamers from all editions will find Myth & Magic great fun. It retains the 2nd Edition’s focus on story and adventure, but it also provides new opportunity for character customization that appeals to new age gamers.

Give it a try. You may find it a perfect blend of classic and modern gaming.

A 128-page Starter Kit (the Classic Kit) was made available to members on July 15th and soon thereafter for the general gaming public. It allows players to create characters and adventure through 5th level. The Starter Kit provides everything the game master needs to run adventures, as well.

A Revised Starter Kit, which incorporates substantial changes from the playtest, will be available in December. The Revised Starter Kit will not be made available to non-members.
